Flexibilis Redundant Card (FRC)
HSR/PRP PCIe Network Interface Card
Flexibilis Redundant Card (FRC) is a PCIe Network Interface Card that offers a ready to use
implementation of the High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) and Parallel Redundancy
Protocol (PRP) Ethernet standards. FRC provides seamless redundant communication and
clock synchronization for critical traffic, in addition to regular Ethernet network interface card
functionality.
Key Benefits
- Provides seamless redundant communication for critical traffic
- Open, interoperable solution supporting HSR, PRP and IEEE 1588 PTP standards
- Integrates features of Flexibilis Redundant Switch (FRS) in a ready to use PCIe form factor
- Highly accurate clock synchronization using Precision Time Protocol (IEEE1588-2008)
Redundant Communication
FRC provides seamless zero loss Ethernet communication via the High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) standard (IEC 62439-3 Clause 5) and the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) standard (IEC 62439-3 Clause 4). Redundancy is implemented on Ethernet layer. The standards ensure high levels of reliability and availability on the network.
Time Synchronization
FRC implements clock synchronization via the IEC 61850-9-3 Precision Time Protocol profile for Power Utility Automation. It provides sub-microsecond synchronization accuracy over multiple hops.
High Performance
FRC offers 1Gb full-speed non-blocking switching performance and is based on the industry proven Flexibilis Redundant Switch (FRS) IP core. FRS is widely used in substation automation and power grid installations all over the world.
Ease of Use
FRC can be used to quickly bring redundant communication to existing infrastructure. It can be used as a regular Ethernet PCIe network interface card as well as for HSR/PRP and PTP functionality. FRC can be managed either via Graphical User Interface (GUI) or the NETCONF configuration and management protocol.
